Your skin already knows how to heal. Microneedling just triggers that process at the dermal level where collagen and elastin live.
Within one to two weeks after treatment, you’ll start seeing smoother texture. Acne scars soften. Pores tighten. Fine lines fade because your skin is producing new collagen, not just sitting on the surface with another serum.
This isn’t about masking problems. It’s about shifting your skin’s repair mechanism into gear so the improvement comes from within. That’s why results last months instead of days.
Most people need three to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart for acne scarring or significant texture concerns. Anti-aging maintenance typically follows a similar timeline. You’re looking at gradual, compounding improvement that builds with each treatment.
The difference between this and what you’ve tried at home is depth. Topical products can’t reach the dermis. Microneedling does.
We’ve been serving Archer Lodge, NC and the surrounding Wake County area with medical-grade treatments since our founding. Jacqueline Grace, our licensed esthetician, has been named Best Esthetician in Wake County three years running and holds first place internationally in the Pigmentation Artist of the Year category at The Skin Games.
She’s also one of the first hundred practitioners worldwide to earn HydraFacial Master Certification. That’s not marketing language—it’s measurable expertise.
Our medical director, Dr. Joseph Hummel, brings over 15 years of emergency medicine experience and multiple Physician of the Year awards to our oversight protocols. You’re getting clinical-grade care with personalized attention, not a one-size-fits-all approach from someone who just finished a weekend certification course.
Our Archer Lodge clients appreciate that we don’t oversell. We evaluate your skin during a free consultation, recommend what will actually work, and explain why. If microneedling isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you what is.
You start with a free skin evaluation where we assess your specific concerns—whether that’s acne scarring, sun damage, enlarged pores, or aging skin. We look at your skin type, your goals, and your timeline to determine if microneedling is the right treatment and how many sessions you’ll likely need.
On treatment day, we cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing cream for about 30 minutes. Once you’re comfortable, we use the FDA-approved SkinPen device to create controlled micro-injuries at the precise depth your skin needs. The SkinPen adjusts for different areas, so delicate skin around your eyes gets treated differently than thicker areas with deep scarring.
The actual microneedling takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on the treatment area. You’ll feel pressure and some vibration, but the numbing cream handles most of the discomfort.
Right after, your skin will be red—similar to a moderate sunburn. We apply a soothing serum that penetrates deeper than it ever could on untreated skin. That’s one of microneedling’s benefits: it makes your high-quality skincare products work harder.
You’ll go home with aftercare instructions. Expect redness the day of treatment and possibly the next day. Some mild dryness and flaking for about a week is normal as your skin regenerates. Most of our Archer Lodge clients fit this into their schedule around work and weekend plans without major disruption.
The visible improvement starts around week two and continues as your collagen production ramps up over the following months.
Ready to get started?
Every microneedling appointment at Wake Skincare includes a personalized skin assessment, not a rushed in-and-out treatment. We adjust the SkinPen depth based on what your skin needs that day and where we’re treating.
You’re getting the only FDA-approved microneedling device specifically designed to improve wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation, pore size, and texture. That approval matters because it means the device has been clinically tested and proven safe and effective for these exact concerns.
We also incorporate medical-grade serums immediately post-treatment when your skin’s absorption is at its peak. This isn’t an upsell—it’s part of the treatment protocol because it enhances your results.
Archer Lodge sits in one of the fastest-growing areas of Wake County, and the demographic here tends to be educated, busy professionals who research their options. You’re not looking for gimmicks. You want treatments backed by science, performed by someone who actually knows what they’re doing, with realistic timelines and expectations.
That’s what we do. We treat acne scars that have been there for years. We address sun damage from North Carolina summers. We help aging skin that’s lost firmness and developed fine lines because collagen production drops about one percent every year after age 20.
If you’re dealing with persistent skin issues that over-the-counter products haven’t touched, microneedling works at the level where real change happens. And if you just want to maintain healthy skin and prevent future aging, it does that too.
Most people need three to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart for significant concerns like acne scarring, large pores, or moderate aging signs. You’ll start seeing smoother texture and improved tone after the first session, but the real transformation builds with each treatment as collagen production compounds.
If you’re treating deep acne scars or advanced sun damage, you might need closer to five or six sessions. For general anti-aging maintenance or mild texture issues, three sessions often get you where you want to be.
During your free consultation, we assess your specific skin and give you an honest treatment plan. We’re not going to oversell you on sessions you don’t need, but we’re also not going to promise overnight miracles. Collagen induction therapy takes time because you’re rebuilding your skin’s structure from the inside out.
After your initial series, most clients come back every six months or so for maintenance. That keeps collagen production active and results lasting.
We apply topical numbing cream about 30 minutes before treatment, which handles most of the discomfort. During the actual microneedling, you’ll feel pressure and vibration—some areas are more sensitive than others, but it’s not painful. Most people describe it as tolerable to mildly uncomfortable.
Your skin will be red immediately after, similar to a sunburn. That redness typically lasts the rest of the day and sometimes into the next day. You can go back to work the following day if needed, though some people prefer to schedule treatments before a weekend.
For about a week after, expect some dryness and possibly light flaking as your skin regenerates. This is normal and actually a sign that the treatment is working. You’ll need to avoid direct sun exposure, skip your retinols and active ingredients temporarily, and stick to gentle cleansers and moisturizers.
You can wear makeup after 24 hours if you need to. Most of our Archer Lodge clients fit this into their regular schedule without major disruption—it’s not like you’re out of commission for weeks.
Microneedling works best for acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture issues, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and mild skin laxity. It’s FDA-approved specifically for treating wrinkles and acne scars, but the collagen induction process improves overall skin quality too.
If you’ve dealt with post-acne scarring that makes your skin look uneven or pitted, microneedling can significantly soften those scars by rebuilding the underlying tissue. For aging concerns, it addresses the root cause—collagen loss—rather than just treating surface symptoms.
It’s also effective for various types of hyperpigmentation, from sun spots to post-inflammatory marks, because the skin renewal process helps even out tone. And because the SkinPen is safe for all skin types, you don’t have to worry about the pigmentation issues that can come with some laser treatments.
What it doesn’t treat: active acne, rosacea flare-ups, eczema, or skin infections. We evaluate your skin first to make sure microneedling is appropriate for what you’re dealing with. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll recommend what is.
At-home derma rollers don’t penetrate deep enough to trigger real collagen production. They work at the surface level—sometimes causing irritation or even scarring if not used correctly—but they can’t reach the dermis where collagen and elastin actually live.
The FDA-approved SkinPen we use adjusts to precise depths based on what your skin needs and where we’re treating. We can go deeper in areas with thick scarring and lighter around delicate areas. That level of control and depth is what produces actual results.
There’s also a sterility and safety factor. Professional microneedling follows strict protocols to prevent infection and ensure consistent results. At-home devices don’t have the same standards, and improper use can damage your skin rather than improve it.
If you’ve tried at-home microneedling and didn’t see results, that’s why. You weren’t doing anything wrong—the tool just isn’t capable of the same depth and precision. Professional treatment costs more upfront, but it actually works.
You’ll start seeing smoother texture and improved tone within one to two weeks after your first session. That’s when the initial healing response kicks in and new collagen starts forming. The improvement continues over the next few months as collagen production ramps up.
After a full series of three to five treatments, results typically last six months or longer before you need maintenance. Some people go a full year between touch-ups, especially if they’re taking care of their skin with good sun protection and quality products.
The longevity depends partly on what you’re treating. Anti-aging results tend to last longer with periodic maintenance because you’re staying ahead of collagen loss. Acne scar improvement is more permanent because you’ve rebuilt the underlying tissue, though new scarring from future breakouts would need separate treatment.
This isn’t like Botox where results wear off in three months. You’re creating structural change in your skin, so the improvement sticks around. That said, your skin is still aging and still exposed to sun damage, so maintenance keeps you looking your best long-term.
Yes. The SkinPen is FDA-approved for use on all skin types, including darker skin tones that can have complications with certain laser treatments. Because microneedling uses mechanical stimulation rather than heat or light, it doesn’t carry the same risk of hyperpigmentation that some other procedures do.
That’s especially important for treating concerns like melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, where you need a treatment that won’t make the pigmentation worse. Microneedling actually helps even out skin tone without the risks associated with heat-based treatments.
During your consultation, we assess your skin type, tone, and specific concerns to make sure microneedling is the right approach. If you have active skin conditions, infections, or certain medical concerns, we’ll discuss those upfront.
The key is working with someone who understands how to adjust treatment depth and protocol based on individual skin needs. That’s where expertise matters—not just having the right equipment, but knowing how to use it properly for your specific skin.
