Your skin doesn’t just look better on the surface. Microneedling triggers your body’s natural repair process by creating controlled micro-channels in the skin. That response kicks collagen and elastin production into gear, which means your skin gets firmer, smoother, and more even over time.
You’re not covering up acne scars or fine lines. You’re rebuilding the tissue underneath them. Most people see visible improvement within a few weeks, and results keep developing for months as new collagen forms.
The treatment itself takes about 30 minutes. You’ll have some redness for a day or two, similar to a mild sunburn. Then you’re back to normal activities while your skin does the real work beneath the surface.
If you’ve tried serums, peels, or at-home devices without seeing real change, this is the step up. It’s not about adding more products to your routine. It’s about giving your skin the signal it needs to repair itself from the inside out.
Wake Skincare is led by Jacqueline Grace, a licensed esthetician who’s been named Best Esthetician in Wake County three years running. She’s also HydraFacial Master Certified and placed first internationally in the Pigmentation Artist category at The Skin Games. That’s not luck—it’s skill, training, and consistency.
We’re located in Wake Forest and serve clients throughout Wake County, including Warrenton and the surrounding areas. Every treatment here is one-on-one. You’re not handed off to someone different each visit or rushed through a conveyor belt system.
You’ll start with a free consultation where we evaluate your skin, talk through your concerns, and map out a realistic plan. No pressure. No upselling treatments you don’t need. Just honest feedback from someone who’s done this thousands of times and knows what works.
We start with a free consultation to assess your skin type, concerns, and goals. If microneedling makes sense for you, we’ll schedule your first session and talk through what to expect before, during, and after.
On treatment day, your skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied. Once you’re comfortable, we use the FDA-cleared SkinPen device to create controlled micro-injuries across the treatment area. The depth is adjusted based on what we’re treating—shallower for fine lines, deeper for acne scars. The process takes about 30 minutes.
Immediately after, your skin will be red and slightly sensitive. That’s normal and expected. We apply a soothing serum to calm things down, and you’re good to go. Most people return to their regular routine within 24 hours.
Over the next few weeks, your skin starts producing new collagen. You’ll notice smoother texture, reduced scarring, and a more even tone. Results continue improving for up to six months as collagen remodeling happens beneath the surface. For ongoing maintenance, most clients come back once or twice a year.

Every microneedling appointment at Wake Skincare includes a pre-treatment skin evaluation, topical numbing for comfort, the SkinPen treatment itself, and post-care instructions you can actually follow. We’re using the first FDA-cleared microneedling device on the market, which means it’s been clinically tested and proven safe for all skin types.
You’re not limited to one concern per session. Microneedling addresses acne scars, fine lines, large pores, uneven texture, sun damage, and early signs of aging all at once. The treatment is customizable based on your skin’s needs, and we adjust needle depth depending on the area and issue we’re targeting.
In Warrenton and the surrounding Wake County area, a lot of clients deal with sun damage and hyperpigmentation from outdoor work or recreation. Microneedling helps break up that uneven pigmentation while improving overall skin tone. It also pairs well with other treatments like chemical peels or LED therapy if you’re looking for more comprehensive results.
Each session costs between $200 and $400 depending on the treatment area. That’s more affordable than laser resurfacing and has less downtime than deeper chemical peels. You’ll typically need three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart for optimal results, but we’ll give you a clearer timeline after your consultation.
It works, and there’s clinical evidence to back it up. Microneedling stimulates collagen production in the deeper layers of your skin, which helps fill in depressed acne scars over time. You’re not masking the scars—you’re rebuilding the tissue underneath them.
The key is using professional-grade equipment like SkinPen, which is FDA-cleared and adjustable. At-home derma rollers don’t penetrate deep enough to trigger real collagen remodeling, and they carry a higher risk of infection or scarring if not used correctly. Professional microneedling is performed in a sterile environment with proper technique and depth control.
Most people see noticeable improvement after three to six sessions. The scars don’t disappear overnight, but they become less deep, less visible, and blend better with the surrounding skin. If you’ve had acne scars for years and nothing else has worked, this is one of the most effective non-invasive options available.
Plan for about 24 to 72 hours of redness and sensitivity, similar to a mild sunburn. Your skin might feel tight or slightly swollen the first day, but that usually subsides quickly. Most people are back to work and normal activities within a day or two.
You’ll want to avoid heavy makeup, intense workouts, and direct sun exposure for the first 48 hours. After that, you can resume your regular routine with a good SPF. Your skin will be more sensitive to sun damage during the healing process, so sunscreen isn’t optional—it’s required.
Some people schedule treatments before a long weekend so they have extra recovery time, but it’s not always necessary. If you have an important event coming up, book your session at least two weeks out to give your skin time to heal and start showing improvement. The redness fades fast, but the real glow takes a bit longer to develop.
Yes. SkinPen is FDA-cleared for all Fitzpatrick Skin Types I through VI, which means it’s safe for both light and dark skin tones. Unlike some laser treatments that carry a higher risk of hyperpigmentation on darker skin, microneedling doesn’t use heat or light—it’s purely mechanical.
That said, your skin still needs to be evaluated first. If you have active acne, rosacea flare-ups, or certain skin conditions, we may recommend waiting or adjusting the treatment plan. Microneedling works best on healthy skin that just needs a collagen boost.
During your free consultation, we’ll assess your skin type, tone, and any concerns that might affect treatment. If microneedling isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you. There’s no point in doing a treatment that won’t give you the results you’re looking for.
You’ll notice some immediate glow from increased circulation, but the real changes take a few weeks to show up. That’s because collagen production doesn’t happen overnight—it’s a gradual process that continues for months after your treatment.
Most people start seeing visible improvement around three to four weeks post-treatment. Fine lines soften, texture smooths out, and acne scars become less pronounced. Results peak around the six-month mark as your skin continues building new collagen and remodeling tissue.
If you’re doing a series of treatments, each session builds on the last. You’ll see incremental improvement after each appointment, with the most dramatic change happening after you’ve completed the full series. For maintenance, most clients come back once or twice a year to keep results going.
Yes, but timing matters. Microneedling pairs well with treatments like chemical peels, LED therapy, and hydrating facials. In fact, combining treatments often gives you better overall results because you’re addressing multiple skin concerns at once.
If you’re getting Botox or fillers, you’ll want to space those out from your microneedling session. Most practitioners recommend waiting at least two weeks between injectables and microneedling to avoid any complications or interference with results.
During your consultation, we’ll talk through your full skincare routine and any other treatments you’re considering. That way, we can map out a plan that makes sense for your goals and doesn’t overlap in a way that could irritate your skin or waste your money. The goal is results, not just more treatments.
Professional microneedling uses FDA-cleared devices like SkinPen that penetrate deeper and more precisely than anything you can buy online. At-home derma rollers typically max out at 0.25mm depth, which isn’t enough to trigger real collagen production. Professional treatments go up to 2.5mm depending on what we’re treating.
There’s also the safety factor. Professional microneedling is done in a sterile environment with single-use needle cartridges. At-home devices are harder to keep clean, and improper use can lead to infection, scarring, or skin damage. During the pandemic, dermatologists saw a spike in complications from DIY microneedling.
If you’re serious about improving acne scars, fine lines, or texture, professional treatment is worth it. You’re paying for the right equipment, proper technique, and someone who knows how to adjust depth and pressure based on your skin’s needs. At-home devices might help with product absorption, but they won’t give you the same collagen-building results.
