You get 12 to 18 months of perfectly shaped eyebrows without touching a pencil. That’s over a year of waking up with defined, natural-looking brows that don’t smudge in the gym, fade in the pool, or disappear by lunchtime.
The technique creates hair-like strokes that blend with your existing brows. If you’ve over-plucked, dealt with thinning from aging or medical treatments, or just want fuller brows without the daily hassle, this gives you that.
Most clients near Zebulon save 10-15 minutes every morning. That adds up to over 90 hours a year you’re not spending in front of a mirror with a brow pencil. You’re also done buying products that run out or don’t match right.
The results look natural because the pigment is deposited into the upper layers of skin in fine, precise strokes. You’re not getting a solid block of color. You’re getting dimension and shape that works with your face.
Our founder, Jacqueline Grace, has been named Best Esthetician in Wake County three years running. She’s also earned first and second place in the Pigmentation Artist of the Year category at The Skin Games, an international competition where the best permanent makeup artists compete.
She trained under one of Raleigh’s top permanent makeup artists and specializes in a light, airy powder brow technique. She’s also one of fewer than 100 practitioners worldwide to achieve HydraFacial Master Certification.
We serve clients throughout Wake County, including Zebulon, Wendell, Knightdale, and the surrounding areas. Our clinic is backed by one of the most respected medical directors in the Triangle and follows medical-grade standards for every procedure.
You start with a free consultation. That’s where you talk through the shape, thickness, and style you want. We map out your brows based on your bone structure and facial symmetry, so the shape complements your features.
Once the design is approved, a topical numbing cream is applied. Most people feel pressure but not pain. The microblading tool uses a fine blade to deposit pigment into the skin in small, controlled strokes that mimic real hair.
The appointment takes about two hours. Afterward, your brows will look darker than the final result—that’s normal. The color softens over the next week as your skin heals.
You’ll come back for a touch-up session four to six weeks later. This is when any areas that didn’t retain pigment as well get refined. After that, you’re set for 12 to 18 months before you need a refresh.

Microblading creates individual hair strokes. Powder brows give you a soft, filled-in look similar to wearing brow powder. Nano brows use an even finer tool for the most precise, natural hair strokes.
If your brows are very sparse or you prefer a more polished, makeup-like finish, powder brows might be the better fit. If you have some natural hair and want to add fullness and definition, traditional microblading or nano brows work well.
In Zebulon and the surrounding Wake County area, more women are choosing semi-permanent options because North Carolina’s heat and humidity make daily makeup a challenge. Microblading and powder brows hold up through summer heat, workouts, and outdoor activities without fading or smudging.
The consultation helps determine which technique matches your skin type, lifestyle, and the look you want. Not everyone is a candidate—certain medications, skin conditions, or health factors can affect healing. That’s why the consultation matters.
Microblading typically lasts 12 to 18 months before you need a refresh. How long it lasts depends on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you follow aftercare instructions.
Oily skin tends to break down pigment faster than dry skin. If you’re in the sun a lot or use certain skincare products with retinol or acids near your brows, the pigment may fade sooner.
You’ll have a touch-up appointment four to six weeks after your initial session. This isn’t optional—it’s part of the process. The first session creates the shape and deposits pigment, but not all areas retain color evenly on the first pass. The touch-up fills in any spots that faded and refines the overall look.
After that, most clients come back every 12 to 18 months for a refresh to maintain the color and shape.
Most people describe it as uncomfortable but not painful. You’ll feel pressure and a scratching sensation, but the topical numbing cream we use before and during the procedure keeps it manageable.
Pain tolerance varies. Some clients say it feels like light scratching or tweezing. Others barely feel anything. The numbing cream is applied about 20 minutes before the procedure starts and can be reapplied as needed.
The areas near the inner brow and arch tend to be more sensitive than the tail. If you’ve ever had your eyebrows threaded or waxed, the discomfort level is similar or less.
You’re awake the whole time and can ask for breaks if you need them. The entire appointment takes about two hours, but the actual microblading portion is closer to 60 to 90 minutes.
Your brows will look darker and more defined immediately after the procedure. That’s normal. The color will soften by 30 to 40 percent as your skin heals over the next seven to ten days.
You’ll have some redness right after, but it usually fades within a few hours. Your brows may feel slightly tender or tight for a day or two. You’ll be given an aftercare ointment to apply several times a day to keep the area moisturized.
Avoid getting your brows wet for the first week. That means no long showers, swimming, or sweating heavily at the gym. Don’t pick at any scabbing or flaking—that can pull out pigment and create patchy spots.
You also need to stay out of direct sun and avoid using retinol, glycolic acid, or other exfoliating products near your brows during the healing period. Most people can return to work and normal activities the same day, but you’ll need to be mindful of the aftercare steps for about ten days.
Not everyone can get microblading. If you’re on blood thinners, have certain autoimmune conditions, or have had an organ transplant, you may not be a candidate. Diabetes can affect healing, so that’s evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women should wait. Active skin infections, eczema, or psoriasis near the brow area can also disqualify you temporarily. If you’ve had Botox or fillers recently, you may need to wait a few weeks.
People with very oily skin sometimes don’t retain pigment as well, and the strokes can blur over time. In those cases, powder brows might be a better option.
The free consultation at Wake Skincare covers all of this. You’ll go over your medical history, current medications, and skin type to make sure microblading is safe and will give you the results you’re looking for. If you’re not a candidate, other brow options like tinting or lamination might work better.
Microblading pricing varies depending on the provider’s experience, location, and what’s included. At Wake Skincare, you’re paying for an award-winning artist with international recognition and advanced training, not someone who took a weekend course.
The initial session includes the consultation, custom brow mapping, numbing, the microblading procedure, and aftercare instructions with a healing ointment. The follow-up touch-up session four to six weeks later is typically included in the total price.
You’re not just paying for the appointment time. You’re paying for precision, safety, and results that look natural. Cheaper options exist, but microblading is semi-permanent. If it’s done poorly, you’re stuck with it for months.
We also offer a free initial consultation, so you can ask questions, see the space, and get a clear price before committing. Most clients find that the time saved and confidence gained make it worth the investment.
Microblading uses a manual blade to create hair-like strokes. Powder brows use a machine to deposit pigment in a way that mimics the look of filled-in brows with powder or pencil. Nano brows use a machine with an ultra-fine needle to create even more precise hair strokes than traditional microblading.
If you want a natural, feathered look and have some existing brow hair, microblading or nano brows are usually the best fit. If your brows are very sparse or you like a more polished, defined look, powder brows give you that soft, shaded effect.
Powder brows also tend to last a bit longer and work better on oily skin because the pigment is deposited differently. Nano brows offer the most control and create the finest, most realistic strokes, but they require a highly skilled artist.
During your consultation, Jacqueline will recommend the technique that matches your skin type, natural brow hair, and the look you’re going for. You’re not locked into one method—sometimes a combination approach works best.
