VI Peel Post Care Instructions for Face

Immediately Following the Peel

  • Your skin may appear tan, red, or yellow; this is temporary and will fade within minutes.

Day One

  • Avoid washing, touching, or applying makeup and sunscreen for at least 4-6 hours after the peel is applied. Apply nothing.
  • If you experience significant itching or irritation, gently wash the treated area with a mild cleanser and water, using your hands only. Do not use a sponge or washcloth. Benadryl can be taken if needed.
  • After 4-6 hours, cleanse your face with a mild cleanser (we can recommend one if needed) and water, using your hands only. Dry your skin thoroughly. Apply one of the post-peel retinoid towelettes to the treated area 30-45 minutes after cleansing, making sure your skin is completely dry before application. Allow the product to absorb for at least 1 hour before bedtime.
  • If your skin feels extremely dry or slightly stingy after using the towelette, apply the Vi Derm Moisturizer provided in your kit. You may also apply a light layer of hydrocortisone 1% or 2.5% cream to relieve irritation or redness. Benadryl can be taken if needed.
  •

Day Two

  • Morning: Gently wash your face with a mild cleanser. Apply Vi sunscreen and/or makeup. Be mindful of sun exposure and ensure you have sun protection.
  • Evening: One to two hours before bedtime, wash your face with a mild cleanser and water, using your hands only. Dry your skin thoroughly. Apply the second post-peel retinoid towelette at least one hour before bed, allowing the product to fully absorb.
  • If your skin feels extremely dry or uncomfortable after using the towelette, apply the VI Derm Moisturizer provided in your kit. You may also apply a light layer of hydrocortisone 1% or 2.5% cream to relieve irritation or redness. Benadryl can be taken if needed.
  •

Days Three to Five

  • Morning: Cleanse your face with a mild cleanser, then apply moisturizer (if needed) and sunscreen before makeup. Use the products provided. You may apply hydrocortisone cream if necessary.
  • Evening: Cleanse your face with a mild cleanser and apply the VI Moisturizer. Hydrocortisone cream can also be applied if needed.
  • Peeling will typically start around the mouth area and spread to other treated areas. Your skin may become very itchy, which is a normal part of the healing process. Apply hydrocortisone cream to the itchy areas.
  • Once peeling begins, apply Vi Derm Moisturizer as often as needed for comfort and to minimize visible peeling. Avoid picking at your skin to prevent redness, irritation, and hyperpigmentation.

Day Six and After

  • You can resume your regular skincare routine. If your skin is still sensitive or becomes red or irritated, wait until sensitivity subsides before using strong products. This may take up to 2 weeks.

For Chest, Hands, and Back

  • These areas will take longer to peel, usually starting about a week after the peel is applied. Follow the same instructions as for the face. After the second night of using the retinoid towelettes, continue using tretinoin at bedtime until peeling begins, usually within 5-7 days. Samples of tretinoin will be provided.
  • When washing the treated areas in the morning and at night, old skin will slough off. Wash and pat dry, using your hands only. Apply Vi Derm Moisturizer afterwards.

Additional Tips

  • Use only the Vi Products provided in your kit for the next 7-10 days. If you run out, use a gentle non-retinol/acid cleanser and moisturizer.
  • Before and after peeling, avoid excessively soaking treated areas to prevent premature peeling.
  • Minimize sun exposure as much as possible during the peeling phase. Always apply SPF 30 or higher daily.
  • Avoid facial treatments (including waxing) for at least 2 weeks after peeling is complete.
  • Do not use any products that may burn or sting.
  • Daily skin maintenance with the Vi Derm system will help preserve the effects of the Vi Peel.
