You stop checking the mirror every hour wondering if your brows still look even. You stop avoiding the gym because you don’t want to sweat off your makeup. You stop packing brow pencils for every trip.
Instead, you wake up looking put-together. Your brows are symmetrical, filled, and shaped exactly how you want them. They stay that way through workouts, swimming, humidity, and those early mornings when makeup feels impossible.
This isn’t about vanity. It’s about getting back time you’ll never waste filling in patchy brows again. It’s about feeling confident in photos without checking your reflection first. And it’s about finally having one less thing to worry about when you’re already juggling enough.
We’re not new to this. Jacqueline Grace has been named Best Esthetician in Wake County three years running and took first place in the Pigmentation Artist of the Year category at The Skin Games international competition.
That’s not luck. That’s skill, training, and thousands of brows done right.
She trained under one of Raleigh’s top permanent makeup artists and specializes in light, airy powder brow techniques that look natural, not blocky or overdone. Every consultation is free, one-on-one, and designed around your face shape, skin tone, and lifestyle. You’re not getting a cookie-cutter look. You’re getting brows that fit you.
First, you come in for a free consultation. Jacqueline maps your brows, talks through shape and color, and answers every question you have. No pressure, no upselling.
When you book your appointment, she applies a topical numbing cream so you’re comfortable throughout the process. Some clients even fall asleep. Then she uses a light powder brow technique to create soft, natural-looking strokes that mimic real hair. The whole appointment takes about two hours.
Your brows will look darker for the first 7-10 days while they heal. That’s normal. They’ll lighten as the top layer flakes off, revealing the final result underneath. You’ll come back for a touch-up session 6-8 weeks later to perfect the shape and fill in any spots that didn’t take as well. After that, you’re set for 18-30 months depending on your skin type and lifestyle.
Ready to get started?
We specialize in powder brows and nano brows, not traditional microblading. Why? Because powder brows last longer, fade more evenly, and work better on all skin types, especially oily or mature skin where traditional microblading doesn’t hold as well.
You’re getting a customized shape based on your bone structure and facial symmetry. You’re getting pigment that’s matched to your natural hair color and skin tone. And you’re getting a technique that looks soft and natural, not harsh or tattooed.
Here’s what matters for Micro residents: North Carolina only requires a tattoo permit to perform microblading. No mandatory training. No skill requirements. That puts you at risk if you go to the wrong person. We’re backed by one of the most respected medical directors in the Triangle and follow medical-grade safety standards. You’re not just getting pretty brows. You’re getting a procedure done right, with proper licensing, sterile tools, and someone who actually knows what they’re doing.
Most clients describe the feeling as light scratching, not pain. Jacqueline applies a topical numbing cream before starting, which minimizes discomfort significantly. Some people are sensitive enough to feel pressure or slight irritation, but many clients relax enough to fall asleep during the procedure.
The healing process takes about 7-10 days. Your brows will look darker and bolder immediately after the appointment. That’s expected. As your skin heals, the top layer will flake off naturally, and the color will soften by about 40%. You might experience mild itching or tightness, but that’s your skin regenerating. Avoid picking at the flakes, getting them wet for the first week, or applying makeup directly on the area.
After the initial healing, you’ll return for a touch-up session 6-8 weeks later. This perfects the shape, fills in any areas that didn’t retain pigment as well, and ensures your results last as long as possible. The whole process is straightforward, and Jacqueline walks you through every step so you know exactly what to expect.
Microblading typically lasts 18-30 months, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you care for your brows during the healing process. Oily skin tends to break down pigment faster, while drier skin holds it longer. Sun exposure, skincare products with retinol or acids, and frequent exfoliation can also shorten the lifespan.
You’ll need one touch-up session about 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment. This isn’t optional—it’s part of the process. The first session creates the foundation, and the touch-up perfects the shape and color. After that, most clients come back every 12-18 months for a refresh to keep their brows looking sharp.
If you let your brows fade completely without maintenance, you’ll need to start over with a full session. That’s why most people schedule annual or semi-annual touch-ups. It’s faster, less expensive, and keeps your brows looking fresh without the hassle of a full redo.
Traditional microblading uses a manual blade to create hair-like strokes. It works well on normal to dry skin but doesn’t hold up as well on oily or mature skin. The strokes can blur over time, and the results often fade unevenly.
Powder brows use a machine to deposit pigment in a soft, shaded technique that mimics the look of filled-in brows. The result is more polished and lasts longer than traditional microblading. It works on all skin types and fades more evenly, which means less patchiness as time goes on. This is what we specialize in.
Nano brows are a newer technique that uses an ultra-fine needle to create crisp, hair-like strokes with a machine instead of a blade. It’s more precise than traditional microblading and works better on oily skin. The results look natural and detailed, similar to microblading but with better retention.
Jacqueline will recommend the best technique for your skin type, lifestyle, and the look you want during your free consultation. You’re not locked into one method—she customizes the approach based on what will give you the best results.
Most people are good candidates, but there are a few exceptions. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you’ll need to wait. If you’re on blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder, microblading isn’t safe. Active skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis around the brow area can interfere with healing, and you’ll need to get those under control first.
People with very oily skin can still get microblading, but powder brows or nano brows tend to hold better and last longer. If you’ve had Botox recently, you’ll need to wait at least two weeks before your appointment so your brow shape isn’t affected by muscle relaxation.
Certain medications and health conditions can impact healing or pigment retention. That’s why Jacqueline does a free consultation before booking your appointment. She’ll review your medical history, assess your skin type, and make sure microblading is the right choice for you. If it’s not, she’ll tell you honestly and recommend an alternative that will work better.
Before your appointment, avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications like aspirin or ibuprofen for at least 24 hours. These can increase bleeding and make it harder for the pigment to set properly. Don’t get a facial, chemical peel, or Botox within two weeks of your appointment. And if you normally tint or wax your brows, skip it for at least a week beforehand.
After your appointment, keep your brows dry for the first 7-10 days. That means no sweating, swimming, or long showers where water runs directly over your face. Avoid makeup, skincare products, and touching the area with dirty hands. Don’t pick at the flakes—let them fall off naturally.
Once you’re fully healed, avoid retinol, glycolic acid, and exfoliating products directly on your brows. These break down the pigment faster. Wear sunscreen when you’re outside for extended periods, and avoid tanning beds. Following these guidelines helps your brows heal properly and last as long as possible. Jacqueline provides detailed aftercare instructions after your appointment, and you can always reach out if you have questions during the healing process.
Microblading at Wake Skincare is priced based on the technique, time, and expertise involved. You’re paying for an award-winning artist with international recognition, medical-grade safety standards, and a free consultation that’s customized to your face. The initial session includes your touch-up appointment 6-8 weeks later, so you’re not paying twice to get the final result.
When you compare microblading to the cost of brow pencils, gels, powders, and salon visits over 18-30 months, the math makes sense. You’re also saving 20+ minutes every morning, which adds up to hours over the course of a year. For most people, that time alone is worth the investment.
But here’s the bigger point: you’re not just paying for convenience. You’re paying for confidence. You’re paying to stop worrying about your brows smudging, fading, or looking uneven in photos. You’re paying for the peace of mind that comes with waking up looking put-together, even on your worst days. If that matters to you, microblading isn’t an expense—it’s an investment in how you feel every single day.
